Compost bins have a branding problem. They're sold like a countertop upgrade — sleek, minimal, faintly aspirational — and then you use one for a week and your kitchen starts smelling like trash day. That's not a composting problem. Composting itself shouldn't smell. It's almost always a hardware problem: the wrong bin, a dead filter, no liner, or a lid sealed so tight it's basically fermenting your banana peels instead of just holding them.
